Pay, or Face the Music?

Sourced from TODAYonline"

Wasn't sure this is officially confirmed. But getting fined for songs play in wedding montage video is really something unexpected. Such case may as well happen to other scenarios such as youtube videos with background music, etc. Just be more careful, couples. :)

Would you pay this guy $8,000 to take your wedding pictures?

Sourced from AsiaOne

Would you? Why? Why not?

I believe in paying for good quality photos for my wedding.. but probably not at the range of $8,000. I see people looking for AD photographers with the budget of $600 or lesser, willing to compromise a lot of quality, with the mentality that they will probably not see it ever again or that they have already spent too much on their dream gowns.

Personally I feel that if you have already spent so much on your wedding, what is that few hundred bucks more for a good photographer to take down this magical moment of yours? - and all the preparations you have done for the past year or so.

Tips to choosing the Wedding Banquet

The wedding venue could be considered the most important thing when it comes to The Wedding. Most of the popular places require about 1.5 years advance booking and this is especially true for dates that fall on weekends.

As I was busy with my part time studies when we were looking for venues, my partner took up most of the research for banquet bookings. He then compiled it with some of our personal requests and questions and used it as a guideline when it comes to the negotiation part. Our hotel, however, isn't too flexible and accommodating to our request. But we were lucky they were running a 10years anniversary promotion and we got quite a good bargain.

10 years Anniversary Perks
1) Free flow of beer
2) 2 bottles of wine per confirmed table (additional increase of tables will be entitled to the promo)
3) Additional 10% car passes (total 30%)
4) One night stay in the Super Room
5) 1 complimentary table for 10 for food tasting during weekend(lunch/dinner) for 40 confirmed tables

Additional Perks
1) Able to serve wine during reception

2) Real cake to be given to couples to be brought home
3) Additional champagne glasses for toasting ceremony
(free corkage for additional 1 bottle of champagne for toasting)
4) No additional charges for Baby Seat
5) Function room to be given FOC for solemnization*

Questions
1) Ballroom closes at 11pm – Is it a fix rule?
2) How many days before the actual wedding dinner that the confirmed number of tables need to be finalized.
3) Is the table big enough to accommodate 10 pax + 1 muslim/vegetarian? Will it be too cramp?
4) If more parking coupons is needed that what is being given, where can we purchase it?
5) How many reserve tables allowed?
6) If reserve table never use, need to charge? How to settle the reserve tables?
7) Last min the quantity of the tables changes, how?
8) What is the quality of their waiter/waitress? Part time? Experienced?
9) How is muslim and vegetarin charge? In a single table or slot in methods?
10) Is the food pure halal?
11) If need additional wedding invitation cards, how to get it?
12) Corkage fee, is it free? How to handle duty free liquor
13) How many waiter per table?
14) Any stout provided? Can bring own?
15) How many LCD screen? Free?
16) If food standard drop on the actual day as compare to food tasting, how?
17) Free beer can serve during reception? What time can start to serve?
18) Ang pow box?

Tips when booking Bridal Package

I have done a lot of research before I booked my bridal package. Although I would say that my package is not that ideal (I gave up a lot of negotiations because the sales person is simply too nice!), I am pretty happy with my decision because I feel really comfortable with them as they are really not pushy.

Ok anyway my case is beside the point. I thought since I have all the information, why not share with you the things that you can negotiate on:

Outfit
1) Inclusive of 4 sets of Father jacket (FIL, Father + Bro)
2) Mum and Sis AD Dress
3) 5-6 gowns for photo shoot + 1 MTM
4) 1 MTM pants and shirt (For Groom)
5) Tea-dress (Other than tea dress, you may request to change into other gowns.)
6) 1 Evening Gown & 1 Wedding Gown for AD (choice of off-the-rack or MTM)
7) 2 Men's suit

Make Up
1) Trial make-up (without hair-do)
2) Make-up for Photo shoot
3) 2 make-up for the wedding day (Both morning and night)
4) Eyelashes & ampoule - $40 per session
5) Early bird charges – Before 7am half hour $50
6) Do we have to pay for transport for the make up artist/photographer before 7am?

Flowers
1) Hand bouquet for photoshoot and AD

Bridal Car
1) Bridal car with chauffeur provided (dress code for chauffeur. Are they freelance or full time?)
2) Bridal car decoration (can choose?)
3) Sets of ribbons for accompanying cars

Bridal Accessories
1) Usage of bridal accessories (free or rental, At least two sets (Tiara, Necklace, Earrings) for Wedding Day)

Photography
1) Studio photography (Do we have to pay for studio?)
2) Outdoor photography (usually 2 locations), ask to see portfolio of photographer
3) About 20 pieces of photos bound in album
4) One portrait size photo (inclusive of framing)
5) One table top photo
6) Take note of the transport when taking outdoor shoot, do we have to pay? Usually the bridal studio will pay
7) Additional photos cost ($50/pc, ask if it means 1 photo each or the whole page (some integrate a few photos in 1 page)
8) Take digital photos, better
9) Ask If soft copies are given after touch up
10) Hotpress album (no lines between)

ROM
1) ROM Dress (Free)
