Men speak, woman feel

We all know how men and woman are different.. That's why there is a saying that Men are from Mars and Woman are from Venus.. No doubt that relationships are the most complicated thing on earth.. Don't you think so?

To speak the language of love fluently, you need to practise and practise.. Come, let me try to help you from this book I've read..

Men pride themselves on being solution focused. Insisting that your men brood over matters before coming to a solution is tricky and ineffective.

Woman like to talk about anything and everything. Listening without judgement helps you get a glimpse into their world.

Men like to be admired for their intelligence. Dismissing a man's wit as childish hurrs his self-esteem.

Woman like to be appreciated for their insightful sensitivities. Welcome that into your manly world and you'll gain yourself a loyal confidant.

Woman operate on facts and fact alone. Expect a man to mind-read and get your hints and your'll be in for a huge disappointment.

Woman are relationship builders. Straight talk and fast answers do not align with their need to consult and ponder over matters.

Of course, a relationship is much more complicated than the above points mentioned. Don't be fustrated if your spouse doesn't respond in the same way you do. Remember that his or her uniqueness is what attracted you in the first place.

Let the Music Play

A string quartet, a live band or a DJ? EUGENE WEE lends some band aid on picking the live entertainment for your big day.

PICKING THE RIGHT ONE
Hannah suggests auditioning the DJs and bands on your list before making a decision. That way, you can see which band or DJ has the vibe and energy you're looking for.

If you can't catch their gigs, ask for a recording of their performances. Better yet, see if they have a video of their performances so you can see and hear them in action.

It is also advisable to interview the bands and DJs. Find out how long the band has been together, how many weddings they have performed at, how much they charge, if they have references or testimonials from past clients, etc.

Don't forget to ask candidates for their playlist or repertoire to have an idea if they'll be able to perform the genre of music or specific songs you'd like.

If you're going to get a DJ, Hannah recommends going for established names even though it may cost more. For DJs, I recommend those with vast experience working with corporate companies who do huge events. Don't try to save a few hundred by getting any DJ. You may end up paying more in the end if they're not equipped to support you on your big day.

A GOOD BRIEF
To ensure things go according to plan, brief your band or DJ thoroughly. Give them a list of your favourite singers and bands so they can suggest a playlist. Also provide a list of genres or songs you don't want in the playlist. For example, it would be inappropriate to play a raunchy hip hop tune if you have a lot of conservative guests.

Tay Ping Hui finally reveal the suspense about his "future wife"

Remember earlier this year when Tay Ping Hui thanked his "future wife" at the Star Awards and everybody was like guessing what he actually meant?
Well, he finally spilled the beans...

Ping Hui finally tied the knots with his long-time girlfriend last Friday (18 June 2010) at a 7 star hotel - Capella Singapore in Sentosa. Edna, now known as Mrs Tay, is a 39-year-old lecturer with the National University of Singapore.

The wedding dinner was a simple affair – a small gathering with close relatives and friends. Ping Hui also showed his romantic side that evening, serenading his newly-wedded wife with a ballad on stage.

World Cup boom or gloom for dating couples

Has the World Cup that just started a few days caused you and your partner to drift apart? Or will this lovely game nurture your relationship since both of you have the same passion?

I don't watch soccer. If I watch, I comment about everything like the colour of the player's jersey, the big big advertisers that are getting so much media coverage, the audience who dress up just because of the match.. In fact, it’s almost everything but the game itself.. On a contrary, my partner is a HUGE fan of soccer. We had our first little fight over the last weekend when he wanted to rush dinner just to catch the game, but other than that, I (think) I’m fine with losing a little attention of his to the little soccer ball that unites the nation together. Since it is just once in every 4 years. Right?

And so I ask, is it common? Does that happens to you as well?

64 matches over 25 days, that's almost 100 hours. My only solution is either I live with it, or, start to appreciate soccer. Well, I have already asked him out to watch soccer this coming Friday. Guess it's pretty obvious which solution I have chosen.

Or probably the world cup craze has inspired you to do something interesting for your wedding just like this video montage… http://vimeo.com/5080961

Eco Wedding : An Interesting Wedding Style to Save The Earth.

It is nothing new to hear in publicity campaigns about creating an eco-friendly environment, or news reporting a manufacturing plant building an eco-friendly vehicle. But preparing an eco-friendly wedding? This would be something new and interesting to consider for a wedding event.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! Following the principle of three Rs, eco-couples can easily and creatively prepare a beautiful wedding, yet saving the environment the same! Here are some tips from our friend at National Parks Singapore:

Traditional or Modern Wedding?

Many young couples are already shunning away from the traditional type of wedding banquets. They rather spend the money on honeymoon. So, it got me thinking. Which is more important...?

After much contemplations, I decided to go through the traditional wedding! The morning tradition from sitting in my room, waiting for my soon-to-be-husband, the 'suan-tian-ku-la' sabotaging stage, and the essential stage of offering tea to my parents and elders. It makes a wedding - the real chinese wedding. Well besides that, the process of wedding banquet such as inviting my relatives and friends to witness it, makes me feel like being officially husband and wife, making me feel somehow different from who and what we are now.

So what if I choose to spend it on honeymoon rather than the banquet itself? When I grow old and have the luxury of going for as much holidays as I want, how significant will my honeymoon be?

I know I can have as many holidays as I would like to have 10, 20 or 30 years down the road. But I can never be able to press restart and have my wedding day..

But, always strike a balance ya?

Nana

The Ang Pow Checklist

Not only do you have to worry about the photoshoot, the gown fitting, the invitation list and so on, preparation of Ang Pows on your big day is also a must-not-forget.

                       (Quoted from: www.lechuaphotography.com)

Thanks to Nana (which is me of course), I have prepared a checklist of the must-give Ang Pows so that there will be no last minute panic.

  1. The Solemnizer
  2. Jiemeis
  3. Younger extended relatives like cousins, nephews & nieces
  4. Tea-lady who is helping the tea ceremony (both groom and bride side. Which means, there are 2 Ang Pows to prepare)
  5. Umbrella Lady (she, who holds your umbrella over your head on your wedding day)
  6. Brother (for opening the car)
  7. Haircoming woman (a lucky lady chosen to comb the bride's hair before "shang tou")
  8. Groomsmen & xiong dis
  9. The "An Chuang" lady who sets the martial bed for you
  10. The boy who jumps on the bed
  11. Make up artist
  12. Photographer
  13. Emcee
  14. At least 20 Ang Pows with at least $10 or $20 in each one for miscellaneous needs you might overlooked.
  15. ‘Milk Money’ or ‘Nappy Money’ (this is a small angpow to be given to the parents of the bride on the morning the groom picks her up, and it’s completely separate from the ‘peng kam’ (dowry or bride price) cash given during the ‘Guo Da Li')
Of course, some of the above mentioned are optional. But I believe this is a good checklist for you just before your big day.

Pay, or Face the Music?

Sourced from TODAYonline"

Wasn't sure this is officially confirmed. But getting fined for songs play in wedding montage video is really something unexpected. Such case may as well happen to other scenarios such as youtube videos with background music, etc. Just be more careful, couples. :)

Would you pay this guy $8,000 to take your wedding pictures?

Sourced from AsiaOne

Would you? Why? Why not?

I believe in paying for good quality photos for my wedding.. but probably not at the range of $8,000. I see people looking for AD photographers with the budget of $600 or lesser, willing to compromise a lot of quality, with the mentality that they will probably not see it ever again or that they have already spent too much on their dream gowns.

Personally I feel that if you have already spent so much on your wedding, what is that few hundred bucks more for a good photographer to take down this magical moment of yours? - and all the preparations you have done for the past year or so.
